Zev Valentine

Posted on 10. Nov, 2008 by Mark in Dogs, Pet Food Express My Mutt, smiling dog

When I found out I had a My Mutt assignment to photograph a dog named Zev Valentine I was, to say the least, intrigued. With a name like that he had a lot to live up to and boy did he ever exceed my expectations. Zev turned out to be beautiful brindle pitbull with love for life even bigger than his name. We went to Ft Funston (my destination of choice these days) and took advantage of the fall iceplants for background scenery.Zev spent the outing marking everything in sight, meeting and greeting lots of dogs, retrieving his wubba, and, believe it or not, climbing a tree. And now, without further ado, meet Zev V…

Let his mom know which shots you like the most for a Pet Food Express poster.

I just love Zev’s focus. This was a classic pose for him

Great work! Love the image with the nose in focus and the depth of field behind. And how on earth did you get him to pose with the antlers? My dog usually rips those things off within seconds.

I love them all! He’s such a handsome boy. My favorite is the first one – it is a classical Zev pose and I like that you can see his body. Zev in the tree is my second favorite.

I absolutely love all the photos you took of Zev! It is so hard to pick a favorite, but if I must choose, I like the classic pose and the one tooth shot! Great work

WOW – Zev is so handsome, no surprise there…..but such a well-photo-ed dog! I will be of no use in narrowing these down: I love them ALL! If I have to choose: I love his exuberance running toward you, the nose closeup, and the first shot “focus.” I suppose the final one should have his whole body in it, too. These are gorgeous!

Thanks, everyone. Mr Z was truly a pleasure to photograph and he obviously struck a chord with lot of people other than me.

I loved these pictures. I used to live just a few blocks from Fort Funston, and took my dogs there frequently. Now I live in Vermont. Looking at these pictures made me very home-sick.
