Charlie – Kind of Free…Kind of Wow!

Charlie – Kind of Free…Kind of Wow!

Posted on 30. Jun, 2009 by Mark in Dogs, client sneak peeks

Charlie’s mom forwarned me that she’d be a little difficult to photograph (Charlie, not her mom). She explained Charlie was recently rescued earlier this year and extremely camera shy. I’m used to to dogs sometimes being a bit scared of the camera–particularly when I’m using a big zoom lens –but generally it’s not a a problem once everyone gets used to each other. Charlie proved to be the exception. Every time the camera came out her head went down or she hid behind her mom’s legs.

I finally resorted to hiding behind trees and bushes and then to furtively (and quickly) grabbing quick snaps whenever I could. In the end it worked out just fine and the very last shot was one taken up close with her pretty much looking right at me (though a wee bit distrusfully). My bet is that after she has another few months under her belt and is a bit more sure she’s in her forever home she’ll be ready for a second shoot. For now, Charlier, enjoy the results of your first…

Black dogs are notorious for sucking up the light. Not only did you pull it off, but you dropped a killer obscure 70s reference in your headline! Everybody sing along: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Sn8H42FZcI

heh…the power of a jingle. That damn song ran through my head for the entire shoot. I went back and looked at the old ads when I got home that day and had completely forgotten that Shelley Hack (from Charlie’s Angels) was Charlie. Of course, I don’t even count the absolutely horrific series that came out in the 80′s with Cyndi Lauper standing in for Bobby Short and Sharon Stone as Charlie. Seriously, this ad is one step away from a bad porn movie

I absolutely laughed out loud when I saw the headline! I have been singing that to Charlie since the day I named her. We start nearly every morning with that jingle! Thank you Mark for the beautiful photos of my precious girl. You were very patient and did a wonderful job. Mark generously donated the photo shoot at an auction and I was the very lucky winner! THANK YOU!
