Tygon and Onyx: Out-of-Sight Hounds
Posted on 06. Aug, 2009 by Mark in Dogs, client sneak peeks
I’m a sucker for sighthounds: Salukis, Whippets, Afghans, Greyhounds…you name it. I love the way they run, their long elegant lines and their soulful eyes. Last week I had a chance to photograph a pair of greyhounds in action down at Fort Funston. Tygon and Onyx are both rescues from Golden State Greyhound. Tygon is a large guy, about as big as greyhounds come while Onyx is small and sleek. They make quite the pair and it was amazing watching them open up and tear down the beach at full speed. T & O, enjoy your sneak peak…

Darling! I particularly like the one with T framed by the rock. The echoing of the shape of the dog by the stone is lovely.

In the fourth shot, he looks just like the bus logo!

I wonder if you’ve seen any of the rescued Guam greyhounds over there since you like greyhounds so much

I am a sight hound fanatic, too, and these are just beautiful. They are the perfect subject.
I’m the proud owner of an Italian Greyhound whom I believe has something really special-photogenically, that is (he’s obviously special in every other way imaginable in my biased opinion).
I’m not a professional and I’d appreciate a bit of advice about photographing for an advertising portfolio. Could I send you a picture?

I’m a sight hound lover, too. They really are the best subjects and these photos are just beautiful. You have managed to capture their winsomness as well as their playful, sweet nature.
I have an Italian Greyhound that is so photogenic and I’ve often thought of creating a portfolio for advertising agencies but I’m not a professional. Would you critique a couple of my pictures? I would welcome any of your constructive criticism. I really respect your work.
Thanks for any help you can give,
Lisa
