A Dog Named Dude

I’m a major Big Lebowski fan so when I found out I was going to be photographing a dog named Dude (I know, for purists he’d have to be named The Dude to be 100% accurate but this is close enough) I was pretty psyched. Dude’s an aptly named Golden Retriever who lives in the East Bay and loves playing with and dismembering stuffed toys. His current favorite is a giraffe that may well be missing a few parts since I saw him last weekend. Dude’s also an inveterate bird dog and managed to flush a Red-Tailed Hawk from the shrubs in the back yard while we were shooting.     When you think about it, a Golden is really the only breed that works with that name. Look at him abiding with that giraffe.

    I have a dog named Dude, but not after the Big Lebowski. I never saw the movie but the whole neighborhood tells me that my Dude is “The Dude”. Funny thing is that my Dude is a (part) golden retiever (and part shepard). He resembles your photo Dude but, is brown with black markings on hes face and ears. oh yeah, your photos are great.
