Duncan the Potcake Dog
Posted on 02. Nov, 2009 by Mark in Bird Photographs, Dogs, Pet Food Express My Mutt
Until last weekend I’d never heard of a Bahamian Potcake dog. Potcakes are street dogs from the Caribbean islands so-named because their primary meals come from the food caked at the base of the pots and pans of local residents. Now not only have I met one in the flesh but I’m a fan. Duncan, who came over for a My Mutt poster photo session is even the star of a book (Bahamian Potcake: A Dog’s Perspective) his mom wrote about him. Please weigh in on which shot you like most for the poster,

My vote is for “I’d like to thank the acadamy…”

Duncan is a natural for the camera. What a ham! Seems like he knows exactly what he wants to convey and he does it well!! From street dog to prince. Now that is a fairy tale if there ever was one.

I like “What did you say?” because it is a rare candid photo of a frequently photographed pooch. He costumes so well, incredible patience with his mom, I was surprised at least one shot did not have props!

What a handsome dog. Thanking the acadamy I guess was my favorite. Very hard to choose as he has such an expressive face. Dede Delzell. Nov. 3, 2009

I vote for the shot with the flowers in the background. Love the white sox he wore to receive his award.
