Yup, it’s August and you’re actually reading a blog post on my site about the holidays. I know, I know — not even the malls have their decorations up yet but there’s actually a chance for you to get ahead of the game for 2010 and get your holiday cards all taken care of before summer ends.

Here’s how it works: If you reserve a pet or personal photo session before September 30th I’ll include holiday shots as part of the session as well as a custom card design and your first 10 cards — that’s a $75 value.

The Mighty Bandit

To be fair, Bandit’s mom warned me that he was big for Shih Tzu. My parents had one when I was in high school so I was thinking maybe 14 pounds at the most. Wow, try 22 pounds. Toy breed? You must be Shiht-ing me?

Bandit may be big but he’s a doll. He’s a sweet, well-mannered guy who’s a little on the shy side around new people but, once you play ball with him, he warms right up.

What do you think for the holiday image? I’m thinking a card with some holiday colors and the ball-chasing shot. Nothing says merry, merry like a dog having a good time.

Lenny and Gus: Weiner Dogs Extraordinaire

Dachshunds are one of my favorite breeds and I met a pair of seriously cute ones this last weekend. Lenny and Gus share a really cool flat in the city with two people and two cats. We spent a beautiful and unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon photographing them througout the flat, in the back yard and then wrapped things up with a holiday shot in front of the fireplace. Lenny and Gus, stardom awaits you….

Dogtoberfest 2008 – Upper Douglass Dogpark

Pups were aplenty at Upper Douglass Dogpark last Saturday for the annual Dogtoberfest celebration and raffle. This year the proceeds are to go toward completely fencing off the park which is enclosed on three of four sides. Judging from the enthusiastic crowd I have a feeling the financial goals were met.

I set up shop there to ostensibly take holiday card photos but this largely ended up being more of a Halloween-themed affair. For folks and their pups who posed for me I have a sneak peak to tide you over through the weekend when I hope to post all the shots for you. For now, thanks for your patience and enjoy.

Chihuahua Meet Up Holiday Card Special…Sort of

Wow. Talk about a full house. They kept me busy at Stern Grove on Sunday during the monthly Chihuahua meet-up and even though only one pup donned a holiday costume, spirits were undeniably high. I’m still going through the multitude of shots (and there are some really good ones) but to tide the patient Meet-uppers who want to at least get a taste I’m posting a quick little sneak-peak below. San Francisco Chihuahua Meet Up Holiday Card Special

Ho, ho, ho! The onslaught of holiday-card photo sessions continues. I will be appearing at everyone’s favorite breed-specific get-together (The San Francisco Chihuahua Meet-up) on Sunday, October 5th from noon to 2 PM at Stern Grove/Pine Lake Dog Park. These will be free, 10-minute mini-sessions. You have the option of buying prints from my website or purchasing a CD with 5 or more full-resolution files to make your own cards.

Holiday Photo Sessions for Pets at Under One Roof in San Francisco

If you’re like me you probably get really annoyed when the holiday decorations started showing up in the stores right after Halloween. Well, I’m one-upping them bigtime and am promoting holiday card sessions for pets less than a month after Labor Day (at least I waited until the first day of fall)

In all seriousness, I’ve gotten a remarkable number of requests already from folks who want to get a jump on things and have their annual family Christmas and holiday cards all ready to go before the season hits. In honor of all the early bird planners out there I’ve got two sessions already lined up down at Under One Roof in the Castro. The events are being held on Saturday, October 11th and Saturday November 15th. I’ll be at the store on both days from 11 AM – 4 PM

The Cost is $65 for a 15-minute sitting with a portion benefitting Under One Roof. You can choose between two 5×7 prints of your choice or a CD of up to 5 of your favorite proofs.

San Francisco Pet Photography Event Announcement

The furry fall pet photo season is upon us and I’m kicking it off with the 2nd annual Dogtoberfest up at Upper Douglass dog park on October 4th from 11AM-2 PM. The good folks of Friends of Upper Douglass Dog Park (FUDDP) have put this event on every year now to raise funds for improving the park. Last year they made enough to put in a water fountain and the goal this year is to pay for completion of fencing so the park is completely enclosed.

I’m donating a Pampered Pooch/Fancy Cat photo session to the silent auction and also serving as official pet photographer at the event. I’ll be offering free mini sessions for attending pets — that’s right, no session fee. You just pay a la carte for prints or have the option of purchasing a CD of 5 or more high-resolution files for $50 plus tax that you can use to make your own prints or holiday cards.

This event was a blast last year and will be even bigger and better this time. Be sure to mark your calendar. If you want to reserve a spot in advance contact me directly. For more details and directions go here.

For all you ultra-prepared people out there I’ll be holding another photography event at Under One Roof on Saturday, July 19th. The theme this time is Christmas in July so bring your pet on down between 11 and 4 and get your holiday card photo taken care of early this year

Sports Basement Pet Social

Last Sunday I had my last Holiday photo session of the season at the new Sports Basement in Potrero Hill. It’s a pet-friendly store and they decided to have a dog social. I had a table along with MetroTails dogwalking service and the SF SPCA

I was really pleased with the turn-out and ended up photographing over 25 dogs in various forms of holiday costume. My favorite was Drake – a German Shepherd who has lost the use of his hind legs and has a special cart that was all decked out in holiday colors.
