Any pet photographer worth their salt or corned beef takes full advantage of all holidays where there’s costume potential to humiliate their own pet and force them into embarrassing photo shoots. St Paddy’s day is no exception so, without further adieu I present to you Bizzy with his leprechaun on

Waghearted Spring & Summer 2011 Collection

Did I tell you I’m into fashion photography now? Yup, it’s true. Beautiful models everywhere. Top-secret designer clothes. Exotic locations. Of course, it’s pet apparel I’m talking about but that doesn’t change anything (does it?) For the last few weeks of 2010 I was scrambling with the good folks at Waghearted to pull together their 2011 Spring/Summer catalog. As usual, the models were all recruited from Bay Area rescue groups and included dogs from Muttville, Humane Society Silicon Valley, San Francisco SPCA and Pets Unlimited. Bizzy made an appearance, too, and got to work with the new Waghearted bath towel and nap mat. Special thanks go out to CaraMia & Andy, Havi, Jimmy, Franky and DeeDee. You guys all did great!

My dog, Bizzy, is such a good sport. As the four-legged companion of a professional pet photographer he endures a lot of impromptu modeling gigs that generally involve costumes he’d probably prefer to pee on than wear. This Halloween was no exception and I put poor Biz through more than usual because, I couldn’t (and still can’t) decide what his costume should be this year. I’ve narrowed it down to two: devil or Dracula. Weigh in and help me pick which way Biz should go bump in the night this Sunday.

Stamper: A Jack (Russell) of All Trades

I was so psyched when I got an email from Stamper’s mom a few weeks back checking into the possibility of a photo shoot. For those of you not in the know, Stamper is the proprietor of StamperDog.com which definitely deserves a visit — especially to see his welcome video.

Anyway, Stamper his mom, Ann, and his dad journeyed down to San Francisco for a shoot at my outdoor studio and we all had a fabulous time. Among other things, Stamper is a serious wiggle worm and face kisser (see below). He was particularly enamored with one of Bizzy’s old squeaky toys which you’ll also see him smiling about in one of the shots.

Stamper and Ann, thanks for making the trek and enjoy your sneak peek! Hope we see you again sometime.

Jelly Bean: Could This Be the World’s Cutest Dog?

After my wife and I adopted our dog, Bizzy, we heard that the place we got him had an internal code they used for pups like him: A cuteness emergency. Admittedly, I have almost no objectivity (ok, none whatsover) when it comes to Bizzy and in my mind he’s always been a 5-alarm-no-holds-barred-send-all-the-troops-you-can Cuteness Emergency that no other dogs even came close to. That is, until I met Jelly Bean. As you’ll soon see we may need a whole new cuteness classification system to handle this adorable little lady and I think that Bizzy may have an honest run for his money here.

I met with Beanie (that’s what her mom calls her) at Fort Funston where she quickly made clear that modeling is in her blood. You’ll be able to see her soon when her My Mut poster hangs at Pet Food Express. Something tells me they may need to guard this poster because who could resist hanging her on their wall. Without further adieu, meet Jelly Bean!

Sometimes I wonder if Bizzy likes being with a pet photographer because, honestly, I make him do some fairly ridiculous things. That said, he’s pretty compliant and definitely enjoys the payment (Trader Joe’s cheese sticks). So, Happy Easter from Mark Rogers Photography and Bizzy.

Except for a new ball, nothing really gets my dog, Bizzy, more excited than a new costume. Yep, he loves ‘em but this year we had a hard time picking one. Would it be Count Barkula? Nope, cape got in the way. The old, but reliable pirate outfit? Nah, rumor had it the Cocker Spaniel down the street was seen modeling a fake peg leg. So, to play it safe we decided to go organic and green (well, orange) for 2009.Whaddya think?

One Blinkin’ Cute Dog

It’s not often I meet dogs that give The Biz a run for his money on the cuteness scale but my most recent My Mutt subject, Blinkin’, comes very, very, close on that front and actually does beat the Biz on an ear-to-body-size ratio. Blinkin’ is a Chihuahua-Jack-Russell-Dachshund mix rescued through the Milo Foundation and adorable really only starts to describe him. His mom is going to have a real challenge picking out the best shot for his poster because he really doesn’t take a bad photo. A star is born.
