I first met Girlie Sue a couple of years ago when she and her had showed up at Under One Roof in the Castro for a pet-photo day I was holding there. We ended up photographing her with a pink boa (one of my favorite shots of all time) and her dad later had that shot made into a giant 4×5 foot canvas that hangs proudly in his living room…if only I had the wallspace at my place.

Well, Girlie and I were reunited right before New Years at Duboce Park where she had a more private session this time and was able to strut her stuff out in the open. Check out how she did…

Butch the Boston

There’s just something about Boston Terriers. The eyes, the temperament, and the way they carry themselves that just makes everyone smile. Then, of course, you have the names. Butch is a case in point. He honestly couldn’t be named anything else — it just suits him. I met Butch on a shoot last weekend — he and his parents were getting themselves some family shots after a recent wedding. Boy, talk about a character.

Under One Roof Photo Event

Last Saturday I held my first monthly photo event down at Under One Roof. We promoted it as being for pets and kids but the vast majority of the folks that signed up for it brought dogs. It was a lot of fun. The folks at the store are great and pretty much rearranged the space as I needed it and let me use any of the merchandise I wanted to for props. Most of the clients opted for the pseudo-studio setting with either a leather bench or red dog bed (and in one case, a pink feather boa)

Out of this shoot came two of my favorite shots of the year – a lovely Boston Terrier named Girlie Sue and a Pomeranian named Hershey and his colleague, Missy (a chihuahua mix). See it and many other of my favorites down below
