5 Happy Hounds in Half Moon Bay

When I heard I’d be photographing 5 dogs and two people at the same time for a holiday card I had a flashback to my very first professional shoot which was for two black lab mixes and a toddler all wearing santa hats. Let’s just say that’s still one of the longer shoots I’ve ever had and produced a fair amount of sweat in addition to the final image. This time around I knew a little bit more about what I was getting into and, thankfully, no props were involved. In the end, we actually got one shot where 6 out of 7 were actually looking at me (I’ll take that any day) and another where the cat showed up, too.

Check out the results. The group shots are first followed by some others around the house and on a lovely walk we took through a park in Half Moon Bay afterwards…

Albert the Cover Boy

When I got word that a Dachsund named Albert was going to be the next cover model for the SPCA’s spring issue I was very excited. I just love Doxies. We met for an late afternoon shoot at his home in Marin and ended up with a lot of fun shots. Albert is very trendy – you might even call him metrosexual because he’s not afraid to wear accessories that accent his colors but arent’ what you typically see on a male dog. Let’s just put it out there: he makes pearls work. As you’ll see…

Tina & Benji

Another week another Pet Food Express My Mutt shoot. For the first time in a while this was actually one for dogs — the last 3 have all been rabbits. The lucky poster stars this time are the aptly named Benji, a cute little blonde terrier rescued through the Milo Foundation, and Tina, an adorable brindle dingo mix rescued through AHAN.org. They have a third housemate – a feisty little dachshund mix – but he wasn’t part of the official poster shoot. Worry not, he got some pictures taken, too.

So, what do we think? Which shot of Benji and which one of Tina should be their poster shot?
