JoJo: A Poodle in Sausalito

Sometimes a My Mutt photo shoot is little like a Special Forces mission–it comes up suddenly, has to happen fast and you usually need to do it at a strange time or place. My latest was no exception: the poster has to be completed by next week for a fund raising event for the Marin Humane Society so we had to meet on early morning in Sausalito to get everything wrapped up in time. Now, truth be told, most Special Forces missions don’t include a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge on a beautiful San Francisco weekend morning and then spending an hour with the sweetest miniature poodle you’ve ever met. JoJo, named after Angelina Jolie, is just lovely and really knows how to work the camera (see below) I think you’ll agree she’s taking My Mutt posterdom to the next level. Buddy: A Lab Loving Life in the North Bay

My latest My Mutt poster shoot took me to Novato where I met Buddy, an extremely happy and exuberant white Labrador who lives at a place with a giant uphill backyard that is just perfectly designer for tiring out even the most energetic pup. Buddy’s poster was donated in the name of the Marin Humane Society and will hang soon at the Novato Pet Food Express. Take a peek at the shots and let us know which you think would look best up on the wall there.

Honey Bunny and Trixie Belle

It’s been a while since I photographed any bunnies so it was great to get a recent My Mutt assignment for two rabbits adopted through the Marin Humane Society. Honey Bunny and Trixie Belle like to hang out in a sunny corner of their home where they have a view a backyard that’s occasionally visited by a curious squirrel. One of their favorite toys is a wicker basket that they’ve converted into a play tube by chewing out the bottom–the other is pair of well-gnawed pink crocs. Innovative and fashion conscious. You don’t get much better than that.

Duncan the Potcake Dog

Until last weekend I’d never heard of a Bahamian Potcake dog. Potcakes are street dogs from the Caribbean islands so-named because their primary meals come from the food caked at the base of the pots and pans of local residents. Now not only have I met one in the flesh but I’m a fan. Duncan, who came over for a My Mutt poster photo session is even the star of a book (Bahamian Potcake: A Dog’s Perspective) his mom wrote about him. Please weigh in on which shot you like most for the poster,
