Nine Lives Kitties Need Homes!

Attention, Kitty people! My good friends at Nine Lives Foundation are trying to find homes for a few special kitties currently being fostered by one of their star volunteers. I got a chance to meet them when I was there photographing two other cats for a Pet Food Express poster. There are four approximately 3-month old kittens (2 of them below) and 7-month old Maggie who’s a special needs adoption. Those interested in learning more can contact me to be put in touch with the foster mom or contact Nine Lives directly.

The other day I mentioned that I hadn’t photographed many cats lately. Well, someone must have heard me because I’ve had multiple kitty shoots in the last couple of weeks (lots of dachshunds, too — but that’s another story). I met Julio and Peppino the week before last down at their home in Palo Alto where we did their session for an upcoming My Mutt Poster. They were rescued through one of my favorite groups – Nine Lives Foundation. Peppino took a little while to warm up to me but after some coaxing and a little food bribery he came out to perform. Julia’s a natural and needed no coaxing. Enjoy your sneak peak, guys…

Six Cats in a Bungalow

“Mark, we have another My Mutt assignment for you: 6 cats”

Sometimes you get an email you have to re-read a few times before it sinks in. Of course, my initial assumption was that all six cats needed to be in the same shot but, thankfully, I had flexibility on this one and if the cats decided not to sit together (which they indeed chose not to) we could go with individual shots or small groups.

The cats–3 tabbies, two calicos and a tuxedo–were all adopted from one of my favorite rescue groups: Nine Lives Foundation down in Redwood City and they live in a classic California bungalow in Palo Alto. The tuxedo, named Blacktop, turned out to be the ham of the group but we ended up with good shots of each of them. Check ‘em out below and let us know which you think should be poster shots.

I had another photo shoot for a Pet Food Express My Mutt poster a few weeks back but this time it was for a cat (I know, they need to rethink the name of the program) named Koko rescued by a nice family down in San Carlos through the Nine Lives Foundation. Koko was abused before he found his new forever home and is completely blind in one eye and either completely or nearly completely blind in the other. He does just fine without them, though and plays like a normal kitty. Look for Koko in a poster down in the San Carlos or Redwood City Petfood Express sometime soon.
