Nina at Golden Gate Park

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I’m trying to include more landmarks in my My Mutt posters so they give the stores they hang in a bit more of a sense of place. I’ve been doing this for a month or so now so be on the lookout soon for a collection of SF and Bay Area landmark shots.

My latest poster star is Nina, a lovely old gal from Grateful Dogs Rescue — who just celebrated their 20th year in San Francisco. Nina’s a senior girl but not without her spontaneous, spry moments as you’ll see in at least one of the shots below. Nina’s mom and I thought the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park would serve as a suitable backdrop for a lady of Nina’s stature and grace. I think the two complement each other wonderfully and thank you to the pigeon gods for sending one of your messengers overhead precisely at the right moment (see 3rd shot below — I swear it’s not photoshopped)

Holiday Pet Photos: ‘Tis the Season

The holidays are truly here and I’ve been up to my elfin ears in antlers, beards and santa hats for the end-of-year rush for seasonal cards featuring everyone’s beloved pets. Last Saturday I spent the afternoon at the Pet Food Express Market Street store photographing dogs with Santa Claus. The shoot benefited a well-known local area group called Rocket Dog Rescue. (Next Saturday I’ll be doing the same thing at the same store from 12-4 for Muttville so come on by)

We’re working on getting an embedded video clip for the blog but these things can take time so, for now, this link will have to suffice.

Hats off to Paul Bliss for filming and editing the segment and a thousand + thanks to the good folks at Pet Food Express for starting the My Mutt program in the first place. Finally, the whole thing wouldn’t have even been possible without Ms Foxy or her parents.

Zev Valentine

When I found out I had a My Mutt assignment to photograph a dog named Zev Valentine I was, to say the least, intrigued. With a name like that he had a lot to live up to and boy did he ever exceed my expectations. Zev turned out to be beautiful brindle pitbull with love for life even bigger than his name. We went to Ft Funston (my destination of choice these days) and took advantage of the fall iceplants for background scenery.Zev spent the outing marking everything in sight, meeting and greeting lots of dogs, retrieving his wubba, and, believe it or not, climbing a tree. And now, without further ado, meet Zev V…

Fortunately, my run in with a grumpy bunny seems to have been a one-time thing. Etta, my latest Lepus, was an absolute doll. She’s an adorable little white bunny with the most delicate ears I’ve ever seen. She’s a Save a Bunny rescue destined for posterhood at Pet Food Express and I think we’re going to have a tough time picking a single shot. Chime in everyone, which one do you like?
