Happy New Year, all. I hope the holidays treated you well and you’re looking forward to 2012. I’m going to ease into things with a mix of old and new. Below you’ll find a visual round-up of my favorite shots from the past couple of weeks but I also want to drop a bit of a teaser for some changes coming on this blog in the extremely not-so-distant future.

Let’s just say that as a rule I don’t make New Years’ resolutions in my personal life but there’s a bit of a loophole when it comes to my business life. For 2012 I have a number of plans for Mark Rogers Photography but one of the big ones is to be a better blogger: more compelling, more consistent, more fun.

Nothing like having a couple of rambunctious Shih Tzu puppies and their father in my back yard on a nice San Francisco fall day. That’s just what happened a week ago when Cubby (dad) and Kingston and Milo came to visit my outdoor studio. The puppies are just at 4 months and cute as can be. Dad presides over the festivities with a regal calm but every once in a while breaks out into a proud fatherly smile. Enjoy your sneak peak, gang.

Today it’s time for the rest of the menagerie that lives with Soda, the Cockatoo I posted last time. Soda’s crew consists of two Shih Tzus named Oreo and Ginger and three cats: Kaya, Gaia and Butu. Oreo, like Soda, is an Animal Assisted Therapy pet and Ginger is on the short list to be the same. The cats keep an eye on things while everyone else is busy (isn’t that what cats do?)

To be fair, Bandit’s mom warned me that he was big for Shih Tzu. My parents had one when I was in high school so I was thinking maybe 14 pounds at the most. Wow, try 22 pounds. Toy breed? You must be Shiht-ing me?

Bandit may be big but he’s a doll. He’s a sweet, well-mannered guy who’s a little on the shy side around new people but, once you play ball with him, he warms right up.

What do you think for the holiday image? I’m thinking a card with some holiday colors and the ball-chasing shot. Nothing says merry, merry like a dog having a good time.
