Penny: A Cute-as-a-Button Yorkie

Even though she only weighs in at a few pounds, Penny –the adorable Yorkie I photographed last week on Nob Hill–seriously packs in the cuteness. It’s virtually impossible to look at her without saying “awwwwww” out loud. Penny’s mom bid on this photo session at an event for the Bay Area Arthritis Foundation so I was glad to not only meet a great new little friend but also know that all this was going to a really good cause. Penny’s mom also happens to be an accomplished interior designer and you can see by the photos that Penny fits in quite well with the decor…or is it the other way around. Dolce

Anyone who knows a modicum of Italian (or is a Fellini fan) knows that dolce means sweet. Well, you really couldn’t come up with better name for my most recent My Mutt shoot. Dolce is a cute-as-a-button Yorkie and Hearing Dog Program trainee. He visited my outdoor studio last Friday right before San Francisco got hit with a week-long batch of rainstorms and let me just say this…a star is born.

Andy – Big Dog in a Tiny Package

Sometimes when a dog is given a more human sounding name it doesn’t always work — I met a Dalmatian named Steve once and didn’t really think it fit him him very well. Other times, as in the case of Andy the Yorkie, it’s a perfect match. Andy is a spry 13 and recently won a chance to be on a My Mutt poster because his mom bid on it at a recent fundraiser for Muttville, one of my favorite rescue groups.

Andy is very comfortable in the limelight and in front of paparazzi (he even requested a shot of him with me for this post — see below). He’s also quite the Renaissance man, with an appreciation for fine art.

Needless to say, we’ve ended up with a ton of My Mutt poster contenders. Help us pick the one that will hang in the Market St Pet Food Express store. Andy would love to hear your comments.

Ricky

I met Ricky last weekend at another photo shoot I held at Under One Roof. When I got there I was a bit concerned because the cool leather bench I usually have as a prop had been sold and all they had left were pink ones. No need to worry because Ricky looked pretty in pink, too. After the inside shoot we grabbed a few shots at Ricky’s nearby home with his favorite toy. Ahhh, a boy and his frog.
