Say Hello to your Pet Photographer for Marin

Hello, I’m Mark Rogers, a pet photographer with a knack for capturing the quirks, and undeniable cuteness of your four-legged best friends. Lucky for you, Marin is packed with incredible locations for your pet’s photoshoot.

From the golden hills of Mount Tam to the breezy shores of Sausalito Marin’s a pet’s paradise. Maybe your dog loves to sprint across the open fields of the Marin Headlands, or perhaps they’re more of a “sip a puppuccino in downtown Mill Valley” type. Whether it’s an adventurous romp at Rodeo Beach or a chill session at home, I’ll tailor the experience to fit your dog or cat’s unique personality. (Shooting in my San Francisco is also always an option if you prefer a cleaner, more polished look.)

Sessions are all about keeping things natural, relaxed, and fun. If your dog’s a goofball, we’ll embrace the silliness. If they’re a bit on the shy side, we’ll find a quiet, scenic spot where they can just be themselves.

Let’s create something special, something that truly reflects the bond you share with your pet and captures the moments that make your pet your pet. . Reach out today, and let’s start planning your Marin County Dog and Pet Photography session!

Miriam – San Rafael, CA

Mark’s photos illuminate the dog we know and love and literally freeze all those great expressions on Riley’s face that make us laugh, marvel and so enjoy him on a daily basis.

Aside from Mark’s obvious talents, he deeply cares about what he is doing and about the quality of his work.

Katie – Mill Valley, CA

Mark Rogers is truly the BEST in the Bay! He recently photographed my frenchies and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Mark’s skill and talent are evident in every photo—he captured their unique personalities and quirks PERFECTLY.

Em – Mill Valley, CA

We could not believe how great the pics turned out!!! Mark really captured their personalities and playfulness. We ordered several wall pieces that are the best I have ever seen. The colors are so deep and the dogs seem so real they could jump out of the pictures.

Location Ideas for Dog & Pet Photography in Marin County

Marin is overflowing with breathtaking outdoor locations that look like they belong on a postcard. From rugged coastlines to redwood groves and rolling hills, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. I’ve explored quite a few, but there are always more to discover—so if you have a favorite spot or a hidden gem in mind, I’d love to hear about it! Here are some of the places I often use for sessions.

The Marin Headlands

Jaw-dropping beauty is an understatement when it comes to what’s often referred to as the crown jewel of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Stunning vistas featuring San Francisco, Mount Tam and the Pacific Ocean are literally around every corner.

Sausalito

Downtown Sausalito offers much as a pet photography location. The Bridgeway Promenade on the waterfront has views of San Francisco and the bay while the marinas and rows of boats offer beautiful seaside backdrops.

Mt. Tamalpais

Towering over Marin County with incredible views in all directions Mt. Tam is both a great spot to shoot from as well as a dramatic background if you know the right trails and locations…which I do!

Muir Beach

North of the Marin Headlands off of Coastal Rt. 1 this lovely spot features classic rugged Northern California shorelines, easy hiking trails and has the advantage of being less crowded than Stinson Beach or Rodeo Beach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Marin has some great spots for pet photography! Muir Beach is perfect for coastal views and plenty of room to roam, while Marin’s many open space preserves offer stunning natural backdrops. For a more urban vibe, we can explore downtown Sausalito or Mill Valley’s charming streets. And if your pet is more of a homebody, we can keep things cozy with a session in your backyard or living room—because sometimes, the best adventures happen at home

Yes! Sessions include up to two pets and two humans. If you have more furry (or human) family members who want to join in, there’s a $50 fee per additional subject. I’ve photographed big pet families before—we’ll make it work!

A pet photography session in San Francisco is $290. Across the bridge in Marin it’s $340, which includes a $50 travel fee to cover gas, tolls, and the adventure of navigating Bay Area traffic. The session fee covers covers the shoot itself, plus all the planning, preparation and editing. Wall art, table top displays and digital images are available separately—because your pet’s cuteness deserves to be immortalized.

Definitely! An extra set of hands can be super helpful. Just keep in mind that too many people can be distracting for your pet. If young kids aren’t part of the session, it’s best to leave them at home so we can keep the focus on your pet’s star moment.

Totally normal! Many pets start out a little unsure, but I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve—treats, toys, silly noises, and an endless supply of patience. The goal is to keep things fun and stress-free. Some of the best photos come from pets just being their wonderfully weird, natural selves.

No worries! If your pet isn’t feeling great or Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum, we can reschedule. The goal is to make this a fun, relaxed experience, so we’ll find a new date that works for everyone.

Most sessions include up to two pets and two people. If you have additional pets (or people) you’d like to include, it’s $50 per extra subject. I’ve done shoots with large groups of animals before—it just takes a little extra planning…and treats!
