Meet Mark Rogers

I’m a SF Bay Area photographer with a soft spot for Mill Valley dog and pet photography—the redwoods, trails, and mountain-town charm make it a pretty epic place to photograph dogs or adventurous cats on leash. Whether your pet is playful, reserved or a bit of both, I’m all about capturing their personality in a way that feels real and will look amazing on your wall.

Mill Valley is a location smorgasbord with tons of spots to choose from. We could wander the shady paths of Old Mill Park or take an easy hike through Cascade Falls. Got a dog with energy to burn? Bayfront Park’s wide-open fields and views of Mount Tam are perfect for action shots. If your pet prefers sticking close to home we can always shoot there. I’m also glad to host you in my San Francisco studio.

Sessions are laid back and fun for everyone—after all it’s not every day you see a grown man with a camera crawling around on the ground with your dog. It doesn’t matter if your pet is a full-on goofball or more of the quietly regal type we’ll capture them just as they are.

Let’s create something you’ll love forever. Reach out and we can start planning your Mill Valley pet photography session now!

Madina – Daly City, CA

What an amazing experience it was! My dog is stubborn, super energetic, not very friendly with strangers. Mark managed not only turn all this around and change his behaviour but take incredible shots. Mind you he was working hard for two hours straight at our home trying to catch best moments. Thank you very much, Mark

Ryan – Daly City, CA

The thing that impressed me most about Mark was that he took his time to get just the right shot of our two cats, Peanut and Coconut. He spent over an hour, crawling on our floor to get just the right shots of our cats.
We would recommend him to anyone looking for a good pet photographer. Thanks, Mark!

Bayfront Park

Mount Tam views and wide grassy fields make Bayfront dog park a winner for action shots with scenery. It’s got plenty of room to roam and zoom off-leash

Marin Headlands

A short drive from Mill Valley the Marin Headlands have a view for everyone. Golden Gate Bridge? Check. Mount Tam? Check. Dogs have to be on leash but if you want epic vistas, blue skies and the Pacific ocean all in one place this is it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Keep things easy. A normal day (walks, naps, the usual chaos) helps pets stay relaxed. Avoid feeding a full meal or running them ragged right before—we want them calm, not comatose. If grooming’s on the agenda do it a day or two ahead. No big deal if they show up a little scruffy—sometimes messy is magic.

Snacks are key for your pet (not for you unless you’re sharing). Bring favorite treats, toys, and anything you’d like to feature in the photos—think stylish collars, bandanas, or that one squeaky duck they can’t live without. Water, comfort items, and patience are always good to have on hand too.

And if your pet is more of a couch king or queen, we can absolutely keep things quiet and do the session at home.

Oh, definitely. Mill Valley is a dream. Blithedale Park offers great natural light and a cozy forest feel. The Dipsea Steps and Old Mill Park? Amazing for moody, woodsy portraits. And if your dog’s a fan of creekside trails or redwoods taller than your house, we’re in the right place. Prefer to keep it homey? Backyard sessions are always a win

Sure thing! My base sessions include two pets and two humans. If you have more peeps or pets involved there’s a $50 fee per extra.

Yes, a helper can be super handy—especially when it comes to wrangling leashes or squeaky toys. Just keep the entourage small. Too many people can distract your pet (and sometimes me). If l kids aren’t part of the session it’s best to leave them at home.

Sessions in Mill Valley (and anywhere outside San Francisco) are $340, which includes a $50 travel fee. Prefer to meet up in SF? That drops the rate to $290. Either way, you’re getting the full experience—scouting, planning, and yes, me whispering sweet encouragement to your pet mid-pose. Prints and digitals are available after the session, once you’ve fully processed how ridiculously photogenic your furry friend is.

Most sessions include up to two pets and two people. If you have additional pets (or people) you’d like to include, it’s $50 per extra subject. I’ve done shoots with large groups of animals before—it just takes a little extra planning…and treats!
