Say Hello (or Woof)to your Redwood City Pet Photographer

Looking for a Redwood City pet photography session that’s as unique and fun as your four-legged superstar? I’m Mark Rogers, a S.F. Bay Area pet photographer who turns floppy ears, sideways glances, and zoomies into lasting memories and RWC is one of my favorite locations for doing what I do!

This town has no shortage of great spots for pet photography. We might hit the trails at Edgewood Park for some nature-filled action shots, find wide open space at Stulsaft Park or pose by the fountains or Fox Theater marquis around Courthouse Square. Got a pup who thinks they’re a café influencer? We can work some magic downtown on Broadway while they people-watch between poses. And for those who prefer a quieter, indoor vibe (or just want to avoid squirrels entirely), my San Francisco studio is always on the table

Each session is tailored to your pet whether they’re a total ham or more of the treat-first-pose-later type. The goal is simple: capture authentic, happy moments that reflect your dog or cat’s real personality. Let’s make something memorable—reach out today and we can start planning your dog and pet photography session in Redwood City.

Top Spots for Dog & Pet Photography in Redwood City

Redwood City is full of outdoor locations ideal for pet photography. Tree-filled parks, a historic downtown and quiet neighborhood trails are among the wide mix of backdrops to showcase your pet’s personality. I’ve visited quite a few of them but I’m always up for finding new ones so if you have a location in mind let’s hear it! Here are some of my typical go-to places:

Pulgas Ridge Preserve

Tucked into the hills, Pulgas Ridge has dog-friendly wide trails, open meadows and an off-leash area where pups can strut their stuff. The soft light filtering through the trees makes for beautiful portraits and the natural setting is perfect for capturing pets at their most relaxed—and most photogenic.

Downtown

Downtown RWC mixes small-town charm with bold textures and colors—perfect for urban-style pet portraits. There’s lots of historic and picturesque buildings and loads of brick walls, murals, and old-school storefronts providing great backgrounds.

Red Morton Park

Red Morton has all the ingredients for a fun outdoor session with a park-loving dog: green open space for action shots, shady groves for quiet portraits and colorful features like bright benches that add pop to your images. It’s a great spot for dogs who like space to explore and play.

Moonphase Plaza

Tucked away at the end of a modern office complex in Redwood Shores, Moonphase Plaza offers open space, lined with contemporary architecture, a waterfront and just the right touch of greenery. It’s a great choice for pets who do well in calmer, quieter environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sessions in Redwood City and outside San Francisco are $340 which includes a $50 travel fee. If you’d rather meet up in SF, the rate is $290. This covers the full shoot, plus all the prep—scouting, planning and making all sorts of weird animal sounds to get your pet’s attention (I know, sounds strange but it’s entertaining and it actually works). Prints and digital images are available for purchase afterward.

Bring your pet’s favorite treats, toys, and any accessories you’d like to include in the photos (like a cute bandana or collar). If your pet has specific needs, like a water bowl or a blanket they love, feel free to bring those along too. The more comfortable they are, the better the photos will turn out!

No way! While pups are my most frequent clients, I photograph all sorts of pets—cats, birds, lizards, bunnies, you name it. If they have a heartbeat and a personality, I’m happy to point a camera their way. Family members (humans included) are always welcome in the frame, too.

Absolutely. One or two extra hands can be a lifesaver. Just try to keep the entourage small—too many people can make pets a little distracted. Leave the toddler crowd at home unless they’re part of the session.

Oh yes. Red Morton Park is a classic—tons of trees, open grassy space, and the occasional squirrel to keep your dog’s interest piqued. Stulsaft Park is a hidden gem with pretty trails and some great natural light, while downtown Redwood City has great architecture and more urban backdrops. If your pet prefers the royal treatment at home, we can roll with that too—backyards and living rooms work great.

Yes! I always have treats, toys, and general bribery on hand. If your pet has allergies or special snack requests, let me know ahead of time. You’re also welcome to bring their favorite treat or comfort item.

A little prep goes a long way! Make sure your pet is well-rested and has had a normal day to help them stay calm and focused. I don’t recommend over exercising them or feeding them right beforehand. If they’re groomed or bathed, schedule that a day or two before the shoot so they look their best. And don’t worry if they’re a little messy—I can work with their natural look too!
