Meet Mark Rogers

San Carlos dog and pet photography is all about combining that friendly “City of Good Living” vibe with some seriously great scenery. I’m Mark Rogers, a longtime Bay Area pet photographer and I love working in this stretch of the Peninsula where you can go from charming downtown streets to scenic hillside trails in just minutes.

It doesn’t matter if your dog’s up for a sunny stroll through Burton Park or a scenic hike at Pulgas Ridge, San Carlos offers backdrops as varied as the pets I photograph.

We’ll find locations that fit your pet’s personality—whether that’s chasing a ball across wide-open fields, posing in front of blooming gardens or taking a belly-rub break under a shady oak. The goal is simple: relaxed, fun sessions that bring out your pet’s quirks, charm, and everything you adore about them.

By the end, you’ll have images you’ll treasure forever and a pet who thinks professional photography needs to be part of their weekly routine (preferably with more treats).

The Reviews Are In

See how my San Carlos area pet photography clients feel about working with me

Ryan – San Carlos, CA

The thing that impressed me most about Mark was that he took his time to get just the right shot of our two cats, He spent over an hour, crawling on our floor and waving a cat toy!

We are so pleased with the results recommend him to anyone looking for a good pet photographer.

Herb – San Carlos CA

We were thrilled with the how well Mark worked with our cute but shy dog. It was clear from our first contact with him he really enjoys his work and that comes out in everything he does. Mark took the time to socialize with our dog, which is not always easy and the final images show the connection they made in just that short time!

Brandy – Palo Alto, CA

WOW! Just WOW! The shots were beyond perfect! I just keep looking at them over and over.

My Top Places for San Carlos Pet Photography

I visit a number of regular locations in San Carlos that I think are pretty ideal for dog and pet photography and I’ve listed a few of my favorites here. Ff you know the area and have spot you’d like to try that’s great. I’m happy to add a new place to my repertoir.

Burton Park

Wide lawns, shady trees and a family feel make Burton Park a great setting. There’s plenty of space to let personalities (and tails) shine.

Heather Dog Exercise Park

With winding trails, scenic canyons and a level play area—Heather Park has a wide range of options for a shoot.

Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve

Just a short drive from downtown San Carlos this open-space gem has rolling hills and oak groves. It’s beautiful and — best of all — quiet.

Eaton Park East Loop

A short, 1.2-mile loop trail with hills and sweeping vistas with views of San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose on a clear day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nothing out of the ordiinary. Keep their routine normal and don’t try to over-exercise them,. This is going to be a new experience requiring a lot of focus and energy. Trust me, they’ll be very tired afterwards — and so will I!, . Defintiely skip a big meal right before the shoot — treats work better that way. If your pet gets groomed regularly make sure we’re scheduling within a few days aferwards so they look their best.

The essentials: your pet’s favorite treats, a toy they love plus any other clothing or props you’d like to include any accessories you love.

The session fee for locations outside San Francisco is $340 ($290 plus a travel fee to cover mileage and time). This fee reserves your session’s date and time and includes the photoshoot itself along with editing and my creative time. Print displays and digital files are not included and are purchased during your odering session held a few weeks after the shoot. Some clients spend several hundered, others invest thousands in wall and tabletop art. Most folks fall somewhere in the middle.

Not even close! Dogs are definitely the most popular I also work with cats, bunnies, birds and even lizards. Frankly,.If it’s a pet I’m game. Humans are welcome, too — as long as your pet approves it. j

Equal parts patience, really good treats and a full repetoir of weird noises. If your pet has dietary restrictions, let me know so I can adjust my bribery strategy accordingly. Their favorite toy is an added bonus..
